Jimmy Li and Vicky Zheng started China Star in 2007. Jimmy’s father owned a restaurant in China and Jimmy grew up with the family business. With his wife Vicky and his children Daphne and Kevin, he keeps the business within the family tradition. He has been cooking professionally for 12 years. Although he was brought up with traditional chinese cooking Jimmy blended his family’s influence with Chinese American cuisine. Born in China, Jimmy believes that America gives the entrepeneur much more freedom to do as one wishes and he hopes his food and business serves the community of Putnam well.
